The reason I heard about him, was because he was recently in Boise. At the BAM where he did a live performance of all of his art in front of 100 lucky viewers. Before he left he said "thank you" to everyone and shook their hands his interpreter even said we- Boisians could be in his next project, and just like that he vanished back to Bejing. I truly love Bolin's work, it is breathtaking and so interesting. His works are published in the BAM and I plan on going to see it this weekend.

Liu Bolin- 2/5/15
Liu Bolin is thirty-seven year old live performance artist from China. He got his degree from Shangdong College of Fine Arts. Most of his works are very popular and are recognizable within the art community. He started doing what he does as a protest in his home city, when it was destroyed by a wrecking ball. He is also known as the "Invisible Man". Some other popular works are called "Hiding in the City" and are photographs. Liu belongs to the generation that came of age in the early 1990s, when China emerged from the rubble of the Cultural Revolution and was beginning to enjoy rapid economic growth and relative political stability. He uses his own body as a canvas, and paints himself into his own backgrounds. Colin creates scenes that are statements about our relationships to our surroundings, and reflections on Chinese artists and their status in modern China. His colleagues paint him into backgrounds all over the world and once they are complete, he stands there quietly, letting the full impact take effect. Sometimes he uses models to paint, but generally he is in his work each time. He also lets art students paint on him to practice.
